This project will reconstruct Rodenburg Road in Schaumburg from Irving Park Road to the Village limits; in Roselle, the project will reconstruct the pavement from the Village limits to Timberleaf Circle and resurface the pavement from Timberleaf Circle to Central Avenue.
The project removes the old sidewalk between Central Avenue and Flamingo Drive and provides a new multi-use path from Central all the way to Irving Park Road.  That will connect Roselle residents with Schaumburg’s extensive system of walking and biking trails leading to Woodfield Mall, Busse Woods and the RTA’s Northwest Transportation Center.
Metra has already improved and extended their grade crossing at the Villages’ limits and will install new crossing gates for vehicles/pedestrians.  New pedestrian push buttons and crosswalks at Irving Park Road will provide a safe connection to the pedestrian paths north of the project.
In 2024, this work will require a complete closure of Rodenburg Road from Timberleaf Circle to Irving Park Road.  The project includes several stages of work at the Timberleaf Circle intersection to maintain access for residents.  The project will also provide access points at the very north end for the institutions and new development at the southwest corner of Rodenburg and Irving Park Roads.
The project will include improvements to the storm sewer system to better drain the pavement and new roadway lighting from Irving Park Road to the railroad tracks.  The roadway will have new concrete curb and gutter from Timberleaf Circle to Irving Park Road.
This fall, work will occur from north of Timberleaf Circle to the railroad tracks.  A series of drains and concrete columns will improve the existing ground and provide support for the new embankments.
The full closure of Rodenburg Road will be no earlier than March 1, 2024; work is anticipated to be completed by late fall of 2024.
