LATEST INFORMATIONOCTOBER 3, 2024
The new Rodenburg Road opens to traffic tomorrow afternoon! Since closing the road seven months ago, crews removed the old roadway, installed a new storm sewer system, created the new base, installed two layers of stone, installed curb/gutter and created the new asphalt roadway. In the past month, we resurfaced from Timberleaf Circle South to Central Avenue. In the past week, we installed the new pavement markings and signs. The connection with the Roselle and Schaumburg pedestrian paths provides walkers/cyclists a safe path across the Metra/CPKC railroad tracks. There is still some work to complete. Crews must install the remaining landscaping and the new roadway lighting system from the railroad north to Irving Park Road. SEPTEMBER 26, 2024
Crews will install the final layer of asphalt tomorrow. There will be short delays as crews pass each cross street. The material must be compacted and cooled before allowing traffic on it. We work diligently to make sure the compactors cross each side street right behind the asphalt paver. Please watch closely for flaggers and follow their directions. The asphalt is upwards of 320º when it arrives to the project; we do not want that material sticking to your tires or shoes. The flaggers are there to help keep crews, you and your vehicle safe. The roadway remains closed to traffic. Pavement marking and sign installation crews are scheduled for next week. Pavement marking work is very weather-dependent. We will open the road to traffic after all the pavement markings and signs are in place. |
