LATEST INFORMATIONJULY 25, 2024
We restored the ‘Quiet Crossing’ and Metra visited the site to confirm their train crews did not sound horns. There will still be train horns when a person/vehicle/animal is on the rails; trains will always sound horns if Metra crews are working on their property. We will still have Metra crews along the rails for a few weeks as they complete their work for the new crossing signals. The roadway remains closed to traffic. We still need to pave the new pedestrian path, install concrete sidewalk sections, complete landscaping and install the roadway lighting system. We installed the Timberleaf Circle North apron. We will route all Timberleaf Circle traffic onto a short section of the new roadway while we remove and replace the Timberleaf Circle South pavement. JULY 18, 2024
Metra and CPKC released orders to restore the ‘Quiet Crossing’ at Rodenburg Road; we are still hearing some stray horns and have contacted Metra and CPKC. A reminder to residents adjacent to the rails – there will still be some train horns. Rail engineers sound warning horns if a person/animal is adjacent to the tracks; they also sound warnings if a train is stopped at the Schaumburg Metra station. The roadway remains closed to traffic. We still need to pave the new pedestrian path, install concrete sidewalk sections, complete landscaping and install the roadway lighting system. Crews installed the Timberleaf Circle North apron and will route Timberleaf Circle traffic onto a section of the new roadway while they remove and replace the Timberleaf Circle South pavement. We completed the work items required to reinstate the 'Quiet Crossing' for trains at the Rodenburg Road tracks and notified the CPKC and Metra. We are awaiting a confirmation discussion between Metra and the CPKC. The Village of Roselle has already delivered a letter to the Federal Railroad Administration detailing the safety items installed this morning. We are all hopeful Metra and CPKC will send orders out to train crews this afternoon to reinstate the ‘No Train Horn’ status of this grade crossing. |
